Quilt Bee's Inedible Buffet

Every April my quilt bee has, what we call, an inedible buffet, even though we do have food. We each make or buy enough gifts for everyone who is participating. So we each get to take home that many gifts. There were 8 of us participating this year and it's always lots of fun. Here's the story in pictures.

sometimes we got to choose from project bags, button boxes, decorated glass bottles and mug mats

sometimes the gifts were individually wrapped like this beautiful felted bag

a beautiful needle case and supplies

a necklace made from thread spools, snaps and a hook and eye

my gift to the girls was a purse key fob and a craft book

some of my choices

and then we get to eat

and eat, and eat some more
We all went home happy.

Quilters become Basket Makers for the Day

I arranged a basket making class for my quilting friends, my bobbin lace teacher and a bobbin lace friend. We had a great day and everyone was so pleased with their baskets that we are arranging another basket making day for next month. Here are a couple of collages showing some of us working and 4 of the completed baskets. Mine is the one with all the beads which is already in use as you can see. Click on the image for a closer view.

some completed baskets--the one with the beads is mine
I'm taking a shibori dye class with Glennis and that is where my time is being spent today. Check back here later if you want to see some of my results.

Following the ins and outs of my Quilting Friends...

A few weeks ago, I taught Jude's method of fabric weaving to my quilting friends. You can see that here.
Some of them have been busy embellishing and even doing more weavings. Click on the images for a closer view.

Anita's been busy weaving

Debbie embellished her weaving with fabric photos of her
2 granddaughters and added lots of bling. It will be a gift for them.

Kay did lots of embellishing and even cut holes to reveal the bottom layer.

Kay also did  this weaving leaving spaces in between revealing the backing.

And Jude has been doing some 'cloth whispering' this week and has lots of followers. I've been playing along. If you'd like to join in, go here. Scroll down to her entry made Dec. 6th, so you can start at the beginning. This is what I've done so far. Click on the image for a closer view.
