Some unusual weavings...

There were some comments on Jude's blog this morning that inspired this. The leaves are from bulbs that bloomed several weeks ago. It was easy to stitch through the leaves as they are still pliable but didn't do much stitching. I'm anxious to see what happens to all of these when they dry. The basket shape was made over some twine where it was easy to stick in pins to hold it in place while weaving. I'm going to try leaving it there until it dries.

a velvet heart just for color. wove around the weaving with some linen thread.

did some stitching on this little one--just around the edges

beginnings of a basket

added a couple of strips of cloth for color and to hold it in place

i like the irregularity of the top (bottom here)

Deanna, this is the coolest basket! I hope it dries just right. These remind me of both the Brigid's cross and the palm leaf weaving handed out on long ago Palm Sundays. And I heart the weaving with the red heart.

well, deanna, i wonder what you will do next?! it seems every time i look here, there's a whole new skill you've tackled. love the basket, it's growing up the sides, i expect flowers to bloom out the ends.

oh cindy, wouldn't it be nice to have flowers blooming in this basket. maybe i'll fill it with flowers from the garden when it's complete.

You can use anything for basket weaving. It makes us appreciate even more of our environment! Lovely shape - Hugs Nat

Deanna I love this...you are so inspiring! The mix of fabric and the bulb leaves. It will be interesting to see in a few months time.
