a crocheted edge...

it started out as a necklace...

a bit of blocking and a light press with the iron

but I think it will get more use as an edging for this pink piece...

hand stitched cotton and lace with crocheted edge

and the garden is starting to show some progress, but the indigo seeds never did sprout...

waiting for the first cucumber on that vine

That first photo makes me think of a new species of lace centipede. I love the soft look of the stitched cotton, lace and crochet - it's beautiful! Too bad about the indigo - maybe it's just slow?

i love the edging - so delicate. my mom use to put a similar edging on all our handkerchiefs when we were little - before Kleenex we had real cloth - still like them better but not easy to find. it's gotten cooler here the last two weeks. i started my indigo inside with a heat mat since i read they needed warmth. they are sprouting gently - about 6-7 little green sprouts are up out of 20. it said in my instructions that it could take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. if you need more seeds let me know - i have some left. cheers -

Beautiful crochet edging for your pink piece, which is gorgeous. I am envious of your garden. Tomatoes will be planted outdoors this week here.

Oh the joys of gardening in the spring of the year. We are so impatient for things to bloom and look daily for tips of new leaves to emerge. Sounds like the indigo will just need a bit more time. The lace edging turned out very pretty, in that first photo it took me minute to realize you were blocking it. At first glance I thought you had stitched 2 pieces of cork together......I was wondering what you were up to now!
LOL, you always surprise me.

Your crocheted edging is beautifully done. So delicate. It does look nice with the 'pink piece'. Lovely garden growing too :)

I was thinking about you at work today.
Im listening to an audio book called The Lace Reader about Salem women who make lace and read it....like a fortune teller.
Its charming to listen to, wondered if you had read it or heard about it?
Thats lovely edging you have there and just keep hoping.....maybe the indigo needs talking to? lol

Deanna, your lace with the cloth is just lovely. And cucumbers already! I can't wait to make cucumber water but mine aren't even planted yet. I'm headed your way tomorrow for an herbal conference. I wish there was free time for shopping and exploring and maybe even visiting ;-) but it's a busy 5 days. At the Hyatt Regency. I hope it's not too hot there now? xo

My indigo seed never sprouted either. I did buy two packages of seed so I am trying again. My mom took half the packet to try on her heat mat in the green house. Love your lace and how you have decided to use it.
