I was with my quilt bee friends yesterday at another basket making class. I've been looking forward to making this basket and knew it would be a challenge. It turns out that the challenging part was not the center design but the swirl design traveling up to the top. There are a few mistakes but I'm very pleased with how it turned out. It measures 11" in diameter and is 5" high. I'm going to try and replicate that center weaving with fabric.
And...I would love to try and make a little square basket with the same design. Maybe at the next class.
Here are some photos.
And something special in the mail from
michelle in NYC...

Michelle will be making a feather to send to Jude for the
Magic Feather Project.
And I've heard that
Otis has sent Jude a feather.

That's a lovely basket!
Wow Deanna, you did a wonderful job on that basket! I can't see any mistakes, but you as the maker would see them. I absolutely LOVE the star in the center. And I loved visiting Otis again. Your finished cloth is wonderful and I can't wait to see in pop up in further works!

Deanna- It is a great basket. I love the colors and the design is very unusual! You did a great job!
Deanna, you are a woman of many talents--your beautiful new basket is so intricate--I can't even imagine doing that. And I like how you will carry it over to cloth. Will watch for that Otis and his feather!
Deanna, the basket is amazing! I bet you love it. I'm glad you are still basket weaving. It's so neat, you are a pro. Hugs Nat
