Shibori Dyeing Silk

My nails are green and blue from dyeing all morning with the Colorhue Dyes. Glennis has posted our first lesson and I'm already addicted. I'm thinking I'd better stop until the next lesson because I don't want to run out of dye before the class ends. On my last 2 pieces, I took to using the dye straight from the bottle. Deanna, so cool! I can tell you're having a good time, but I'd really like to see your hands!! I thought about taking this class so it's fun to see what kinds of things you do. Maybe next time then. . .

Those Colorhue dyes are instant gratification! The full-strength silks are more vibrant, but I can see it would use up the dye much quicker. I especially like the green/yellow and pink/yellow/white colour/patterns you've gotten - and of course the violet 'blossom'.

Hi Deanna, I envy you that you are dyeing so many things already!!!
I've still no time: working for a market with my daughter (pfffft)
I also couldn't order the dyes Glennis advised so I will start with my own (not so easy) dyes. But that will be far into next week
But so be it... I'll catch up somehow!

Great stuff Deanna! I'm still gathering resists. Time to get down to pattern making tomorrow.

thanks all for your comments. I had a little bit of dye mix left in each plastic tub and I didn't want to waste it so I tried putting in some of my used color-catcher sheets to absorb what was left. It really picked up the color so well. I even managed to get a couple of moon shapes on 2 of the sheets. can't wait for lesson 2.

The "snowflake" template is my favorite shape, but the one with the turqoise diamond looking shapes (4th picture down), is my favorite colors. Look forward to seeing more.
The basket class looks like a lot of fun. You ladies
are talented. : )

Wow! How lovely are those pieces of cloth! I can see where this would become addicting. Wonderful eye-candy for those of us without a place to do this!
