pencil play...

I've been playing with my set of Inktense Pencils on paper and on fabric. I love being able to color with pencil and then with just a bit of water brushed on, it gives it a watercolor look. If you decide to buy them, check ebay before paying full price. I got a set of 12 for $7 including shipping. They work really well on fabric as well as paper, leaving the fabric soft and stitchable.

this cat wasn't dark enough so I enhanced the color with the pencils

And more experimenting with natural dyeing.
I'm trying  to achieve double and triple moons. I used several rubber bands over the tin can. There are also some onion skins stuck under the silk fabric as well. A couple of days should dry it up so I can see if it worked.

yes those derwent pencils are wonderfully smooth to work with. boy, you are really busy with new things - that is fun to play. i had to note when you said you were trying to make three moons - the moon is waning pretty fast these days - only 8% full today = probably gone by morning so it good you are making extra moons - we'll need them in the coming days/nights. cheers - happy friday

I love how jaunty your cats look - and the top protrusion of your can reminds me of a jaunty tail. Must be the pleasure from making all you do!

I am so curious about your new bundle. I am keeping onion skins for future use: how come we eat so many onions these days?!?

I have several boxes of watercolor pencils. Is there a way to make them colorfast once you've used them on fabric or do you just never use water on the fabric once it's done?
