a new shape emerged...

This didn't turn out as planned...as if you can plan with eco-dyeing...but I'm happy with the new amoeba shape. And the onion skins gave good, deep color all around the outside. I also see a turtle shape there. This might turn out to be a cloth that will stand alone with some stitching.

a silk fabric before and after the dye pot

an amoeba shape developed created by the 3 rubber bands at the top

do you see the turtle?  the piece measures 20" x 16"

Another bundle tomorrow done with wool, copper pipe, rusty nails and pennies. That one is still too wet to open.

don't see the turtle immediately but do see the twin moons. the shibori like top was a great addition. this would definitely make a stand alone cloth. turned out great - exciting. color is great - did you steam or cook the cloth? i can't remember now if i didn't read it or if you didn't mention it but either way - success.

this is great Deanna....and I see the turtle clearly. I've collected the tins I need, but have yet to get to it...I so hope I'll have similar results to yours when I do try.

yes i see it, i'm wondering if it's the same turtle that carries 4 elephants on it's back and the world is carried on them! it looks very ancient.

I can definitely see a turtle! What fun!

Bonus turtle yes! Now I see a stars birth...more Mummy star and her baby star emerging from behind her... rather than moons. I think its turned out quite clever!

What a fun cloth and it could definately stand alone. I see the turtle, but I also kept seeing an eclipse. I think it is from the radiating rays. Truly beautiful.

Really, really like this...yes absolutely see the turtle.

This technique is rally rich--I see moons and I see that turtle too, feet, tail and all. The symbol of longevity! Perfect for slow cloth.

How gorgeous - great exploring that led to something entirely unexpected!

Just wonderful. Definately a stand alone piece of cloth this one.
I love how this has turned out. Did you just steam this and get the colour from the onion skins...cant believe how strong the colour came through.

Beautiful. Turtles, a super nova or topography - the land and what the weather has done. These are really nice - and the onion skin color is great. I even think it would be pretty torn up and woven, although it would be really hard to do that to this piece.

Janet--i like your interpretation of this piece. a weaving is a good idea but i'd only do that if i had another piece like this one that i could use. i might try making another but the chances of it coming out the same is slim to none. thanks for stopping by.
