A New Magazine and more buttons...

The first issue of  Fiber Art Now has been issued. You can see some of the premiere issue here. Since Fiberarts Magazine is no longer publishing, this looks like a promising replacement.

And, of course more buttons, brooches and toggles have been made in Karen's class. This is the last week of class and I have been inspired to go in many different directions.

a soft button for my wrapping cloth

a brooch for a friend in NYC

shortened some jacket sleeves and now there is a brooch to match

a puff made with a lace hexagon and some embroidery and needle weaving

and the latest is a toggle
Click on the images for a closer view. Some of these pieces will be placed on the edge of my wrapping cloth that is still in progress.

Love your work, thanks for sharing the magazine looks great. Can you tell me what the wrapping cloth is as I'm a new follower.

Hi Susan,
Karen Ruane's first class, Embroider, Embellish, Create was the construction of a wrapping cloth which is something that used to be made when a new baby was born. If you go back to the post of August 31, 2011, and follow up to the present, you will see the construction of my cloth that is still in progress. I did make a sampler pillow which is a smaller version and is posted here:

Thanks for the info on the magazine Deanna. I'll have to keep an eye out, although I am trying not buy magazines anymore...they have been a weakness at times.

Deanna, Thanks once again for helping me keep my finger on the pulse of the industry. Didn't know about this magazine but was very sad to see "Fiber Arts" go, so thanks again. Also, I also took Karen's class, it is/was great. I had problems being able to post comments and my father in law keeps me so busy now that I never even got to making a flicker account, but I saw all your work and it is certainly stunning! You catch on really quick to everything that you try don't you? Oh ya, wwouldn't have known about the class if you hadn't mentioned it, so there you go again thanks!

didn't know you were in Karen's class, Helen. so sorry you weren't able to post. I've been crafting since I was 6 years old, Helen, so things do come a bit easy as far as learning something new---most of the time. maybe when you have some time, you can try to add some photos to flickr.

Hi Deanna ~ I've enjoyed watching several of you stitch your way through this coursework...how lucky you are to be taught these skills! And I didn't think your repertoire could be any larger :>]]

Deanna, you never cease to amaze! Your stitching is perfection. So are your photos -- it's hard to get such clear pictures close in like these. I just read the interview post with Karen and I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks! Will check out the new magazine, too.
