my new favorite cup...

I stopped at a new Goodwill thrift shop yesterday and spent only 99¢. An Emma Bridgewater cup from England. I just love it. It even made my morning tea taste better.
Click on all the images for a closer view.

the inner rim says 'BLACK AND WHITE CAT'
Here are the latest pieces made for Karen Ruane's class that is nearing the end.

funky puff with lace and bead

more funky puffs and an attempt at making one with a cathedral window design
a new piece started to add to the others
Karen has a new class starting on Monday called Buttons and More. Check out the description here. Maybe you'd like to join in. I've signed up.

And finally, a new basket I made this week for a friend. I hope she will like it.

Hey Ho--beautiful work and LOVE that cup--aren't thrifts just the cat's pajamas! I get my best stuff in thrifts, and it's a conscious consumers contribution to the art of reuse, as well, usually, supporting some cause (ones in my neighborhood variously support Aides services, City Opera, Cancer Cares and the Jewish home for the elderly, as well as good will and I don't know where those funds go other than to support training and jobs)

I love GW and other such places! Sometimes I walk away with nothing but it's the little treasures like this that warm your heart and put a big smile on your face! I've told Karen I would like to be in the class aat the beginning of the year. I'm so looking forward to it and even setting aside some cloth even though I have no idea what I should be looking for. Anything that strikes my fancy is the rule of thumb for now! Pretty basket!

Great buttons and I really like your new piece with those lovely old linens.
Thanks for posting the Make do and Mend video. Times were tough and the women still managed to find humor in it all. Very impressive. I've just posted on the parallel subject of accumulation and recycling, which seems to be a rather popular subject these days.
best, nadia

Deanna- Those funky puffs do look pretty - there I said it Ha!- and like they are small. Are they? They look tricky to make. The new piece looks good too, Wondering how it will evolve! The basket is charming, I'm sure it will be well-loved :)

Deanna, you've been very busy lately! Love the black & white cup, you can sip while you stitch magic thread! Your new projects are beautiful. What will you do with those puffs, I know they're embellishment, but on what kinds of things? Am going to check out the class, too, thanks!
