a gathering...

Day has become Night and it is time for a gathering on the Universe of Feathers...
These feathers are on their way to Jude for the Magic Feather Project. The piece is 7" square.

bits and pieces of this fabric was gifted to me
Several people asked me what I would be doing with the 'funky puffs' I'm making in Karen's class. They will be added to the edge of my cloth as embellishment. Here is the edge of the sampler pillow I made with some funky puffs.

I've also been working on a neck piece in bobbin lace. The pattern is so large that I had to make a pillow extension so the bobbins would be supported on the edge.

pillow extension helps hold the bobbins in place.

And just an idea...
Walgreens was offering free pill cases. I decorated it with duct tape and it's a great little case to hold buttons and things to carry around for my stitching project.

Oh aren't those new feathers fine! And, though I didn't ask, I had wondered what those funky puffs were destined for. Nice to know. This collar is just so architecturally interesting laid out like that in process, and, the pill case is charming.

Deanna, the collar your are creating is beautiful. I have watched others create lace and it is a beautiful craft. The pill container idea is inspired! Will you be sharing a photo of the completed pillow top? Please?

Boy, so much going on! The feathers are great. I remember marbling paper with school-aged kids :)
The puffs are fun, I agree with Jeannie, show us when you complete the pillowcase!
The pill case is so clever. Wish i would have thought of that - we found several among my mother's things after she passed.
And that lace!!!! Man, you must be very patient! It's complicated and beautiful.

Deanna, the feather universe is fantastic. Are the feathers made out of a feathery fabric? Just wonderful and being only 7" square, there's some tiny stitching there and just enough, too. The pillcase-turned-sewing kit I love and just today I finally bought that checkered tape at Michael's, I've been looking at JoAnn's and they never have it. Is the beautiful lace collar to attach to a top or dress or is it something that goes on separately like a necklace? Inquiring minds want to know...

first of all, LOVE your marbled feathers, your use of the fabrics is wonderful- it's all swirling and moving.

2nd- brilliant use idea for the pill boxes.

3rd will the neck piece be attached to something, or is it used in some other way?

And you also create lace? I've always thought it is magic.
