Stitching and Waiting...

I've been stitching on the piece I showed in my last post. Still a lot more to do and there will be a reverse piece on the right side that still needs lots of stitching. I'm thinking that velvet star needs a face.

Here are some close-ups. The round moon is pieced with 3 different pieces of silk.

I have 3 dye bundles that I will open in a couple of days and 2 new ones that will have to wait a few weeks. The bundle that is showing a beautiful purple was just wrapped yesterday with some leaves from my Purple Oxalis plant along with some eucalyptus leaves that came from a wonderful friend. I hope that purple holds up in the wash.

Your sun, moon, stars piece is wonderful. I especially love the moon. I just received India's book and hope to obtain some plants at the nursery this weekend. I do have coreopsis, but I would love to get some of the other plants. Have a beautiful weekend.

Hi Deanna, you've been very busy again. Your stitching is lovely, like a little sampler with all these new "Sun/moon/stars" ideas
Oooh these rolls, I must try that! Do you use some mordant or do you roll it just in wet cloth?
Lots of succes with it!

thanks for visiting Jeannie. try using all kinds of leaves as well as flowers. i've been surprised by the impression some of the leaves in my yard have made on cloth.

the circular addition to your piece is a wonderful contrast and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the rinsing leaves that wonderful purple intact.

This piece is just stunning! Worthy of a place in a gallery, I do believe. Whatever else you stitch on it will be icing on the cake!

And that red oxalis -- pretty amazing. Thanks for showing it...

Ahhh, you've been busy! I have one last final on Monday and then I'm taking the summer off to just soak in stitch! Love your sun, moon, stars piece. It gives me so much inspiration. ;-D
