More discharging and the Wyr Knittr

I did some more experimenting with discharging with Soft Scrub. I just used regular stencils this time that I've used in the past for quilting and with Paintstiks. They're not perfect but all are usable. The trick seems to be to start with a small amount of the Soft Scrub and add some as needed. I just used a piece of card stock to spread it around.

Arlee mentioned the gizmo, the Embellish-knit, on her blog yesterday and it looked very familiar. Turns out that about 8 years ago I bought the Wyr Knittr which is the same thing but made to be used with wire instead of yarn. I pulled it out last night (the package was still sealed) and have been playing with it. I couldn't make it work with the wire but it works great with yarn. It makes a great I-Cord and I started coiling and stitching it together for a small basket.

Your wyr knitter makes a coil like the knitting nancy I used to play with as a girl. Might have to get out some nails and an old cotton reel and make another one up!

Love your latest dyeing with the stencils. Worked a treat.

a faster way to make i-cord than using needles by the amount you have done, looking good.

I have some round cords that I didn't know how they were made. Now I do. Thanks, Deanna

Like Jacky, I used to make these with a cotton reel and nails...cannot remember at all how though! That yarn is gorgeous...and I think your discharge experiments are wonderful.

Great results with soft scrub.
Like Jacky we used to make tubes like that with nails in a wooden spool.

Deanna, I love the stencilled cloth. That is pretty amazing, reminds me of that blue paper, forgot what it's called, where you can lay a leaf down and set it in the sun, photo-sensitive something? A great reuse of paint stencils and really cool.
