it's a rainy day here....

so my plans to spread mulch have been squashed. It will give me time to continue going through all my fabric and deciding what to keep and what to give away. I have taken a whole carton of fabric to quilt bee this week and shared with my quilting friends. There will be more to share as I go through it all. I am determined to, once again, have a house that is neat and organized....well, relatively speaking.

what to keep and what to give away is the dilemma...

I came across a couple of projects that never were completed....actually one was never started so I've made an attempt...

red hats

I have 12 of these embroidered hats ( 6 different varieties ) that i bought on ebay many years ago. I'm trying to draw a quilting block to start putting this together. Red is not a color I'm really comfortable working with but I'm going to get this done. I always like adding black and white and have lots of different black and white checkered fabrics. I hope to have at least one block done by my next post. If you have any ideas, please share them. I'm very open to suggestions.

Also found this little project I had started in one of Jude Hill's classes. Hoping to get 2 pouches made after doing a bit more stitching.

the backgrounds are upholstery type fabric

....and I'm still playing with the PDF doodle download that Karen Ruane has in her shop. You can find it here. So many possibilities....

the doodle printed on some of my hand dyed cloth

also printed on cardstock and tissue paper for wrapping small gifts...

I'd better get busy before the day is gone. Time seems to be moving too quickly, lately.
Hope you all have a great weekend. Create something....anything....it always give me a lift and i bet it will do the same for you.

Phew - you have so many things going on!! Oddly enough, I started going through my overflowing stash of white fabrics last night with the view towards doing some downsizing. Added incentive is the fact that #1 son, daughter-in-love, and grandson are coming for a sleep over on Sunday night and my craft space is also the guest room.

I've enjoyed seeing your different projects and I really like the doodle on your hand dyed cloth. Such nice colours.
I think the red hats would look great bordered with your black and white fabrics. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do......

The black and white fabrics might be something for Karen's class ???
Hmmmm looks a bit like the sun/moon/stars class ?
Love that doodle on the handdyed fabric !

I think the hats would be a great subject/starting point for a doodle. You could also trace them onto cloth and incorporate that doodled cloth with the printed hats....I know you don't have anything else to do...lol....

raining here too--for days..and cold. BUT sun and warm return tomorrow and I'm meeting a high school friend found on the internet for an hour or so. Meanwhile, your encouragement has me back in the clutter closet wit a big bag to bring to good will (a start) and I've been polishing stories that grew from my regular writing group. now, if only I could thread a needle again, who knows --- have a lovely weekend to you too.

Do the red hats have to be stitched in red? Wondered whether in black they would look even better with the black n white backgrounds.
Love the Jude's class pieces!
Karen's PDF design does look like fun!

Love what you are doing with the doodle page and your pocket from last post is beautiful. Our weather is so confused. One day near 80, the next barely getting above 55. Our last average frost date is May 15, so I keep reminding myself to be patient - Ha! Have a wonderful weekend. (I always love checkerboard designs with embroidered blocks. Adds some tension to the design.)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a million and one things on the go/to do :) I love what you're going to do with the hats, it's great seeing a plan come together

Good luck and have fun letting go and creating. It is always hard to let go of the ideas and promised folded into each piece of cloth!

We've been lucky with the weather in the past few days, with it being sunny.
I love redwork, so I'd be quite happy with your hats, but I love your ideas to make them more you. I can't wait to have a go with Karen's doodle either♡

Lovely fabrics Deanna - I bet your quilt group was thrilled with what you took them. It's often a good idea to do a clear-out every once in a while - I love how organized I feel afterward!
Love the piece from Jude's class - I'll enjoy seeing what you do with it, how you progress. I have one from a class I took with her on weave and I was looking at it the other day - but then I got distracted by the pile from Karen's classes and I was off on another mission... it's never-ending!

I read somewhere about the '10 points why we should buy more fabric'..I guess someone has to write another 10 points why we shouldn't buy :-) .black and white sounds good for the hat quilt..both your Jude Hill's class project and the doodle printed fabric are beautiful..

Hello! love the doodle fabric and the work you did in Jude's class. Good luck with the fabric over haul, I am in the same process=- I find red difficult to work with too, so now if I want red I go with civil war era reds, I love them, I'm hoping to get into Karen's class

Hope the rain has stopped for you to mulch the garden! Good for you to go through your fabric stash and organize it! I did that when I moved into the Treehouse, but didn't give much away!

Hugs
Nat

You sound like me with so many bits and pieces all over the place. Are you sure you will not want this fabric you throw out. I usually go through mine with the intention of getting rid but end up putting it all back, ha ha.

Of course .... I love your project with Jude. You must finish it. And brave girl you to give away fabrics ....organize yourself. Good example! To be imitated.
