the Bug pillow is finished...

It now has woven doors and the helicopter has a pilot. I'm terrible at drawing so the pilot you see is the best I could do. He kind of looks like Ken Burns, the producer of all those great PBS documentaries. I finished the pillow with red and black fabric and some thick piping. it measures 18"x18". Can you tell why the Bug is being chased?

The only other project I worked on this week was this:

a crocheted band with beads to hold my lace bobbins in place

I did buy some new things to play with...

little rollers that make stitch like marks on paper and some marking pens for dark fabrics

and some new paper to play with. anxious to try that mulberry ribbon paper.

The paper was purchased here:   Etsy Shop---Saaper

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

That pillow turned out so cute Deanna! The Ken Burns link didn't work for me, so I'll take your word for it :)
Your new toys look like fun! Enjoy, Nancy

is he being chased because he is going the wrong way down a one way street? If your pilot does look like the producer you mention then I am assuming he is a wealthy man, therefore it's quite likely he would own a helicopter!! This is a lovely, charming piece...so much fun. I do like the bead piece, a really good idea and I can't wait to see how you use that paper.....I know that with your imagination I probably couldn't even hazard a guess. I am certain you will do something very unexpected with it...

It certainly seems that a great time is being had by both Bug and Helicopter!

Love the pillow, the pilot looks great too. The piping was a nice choice. How clever to make a crochet band with beads to hold your bobbins. I have never done bobbin work, but seeing it, I can imagine you don't want those bobbins falling all over the place.
Mulberry paper ribbon should be fun to work with. No telling were your mind will go with it...always a surprise!

I agree with Karen, looks like the bug is being chased because of the wrong way. Your pillow is beautiful ! Love the piping and the red contour print fabric.Cute rollers! Looking forward to see what you are going to come up with mulberry ribbon paper.

Yep, I think he's going the wrong way too (but then again, with VW's sometimes it's hard to tell!). The crocheted bead band looks like an absolutely inspired solution.

pillow has worked a treat and like others presume he is going the wrong way down the road. Wonder do the line rollers work on fabric too might be very handy if they do.

The bug pillow is cute! I have had 3 real bug beetle cars in my life I have a soft spot for bug beetles. It's fun to get yourself some new things to play with. I recently got a new glue gun to play with - Hugs Nat

I like everything you've been making, Deanna! The Bug Pillow is fabulous -- the black & white piping is perfect -- what a great accessory. I also love those embroidered vegetable quilt squares! How great to come across a forgotten project and still love it.

So much to see in this post. I love the bug and even more the pilot in the helicopter. The cushion with the beads - such a good idea - I never saw it and it is certainly very useful.
