lots of knitting this week...

I've been knitting doll clothing this week. I'm hoping it turns out the right size as it will be a gift and I'm not absolutely sure about the doll size. Nice that the pieces work up quickly. The jacket is finished. I'm working on the dress and there will also be a hat.

I'm also working on making a collar and cuffs for a vintage white blouse that I've had for a while....just to dress it up a bit. Lots of bits and pieces stitched together and then there will be hand embellishing.

Some of you might be familiar with The Tentmaker's of Cairo that have been making the rounds at some of the Quilt shows. They do such beautiful work and it's all needle turn applique. Bonnie McCaffrey made a video several years ago showing their procedure. If you've never seen this before, I think you will be amazed at the beautiful quilts they turn out and how it is done. I've watched this video several times and am still amazed and love hearing the history of how it all started so many years ago.

Here is the link to the video. It is about 15 minutes long.

The grass is still green but it's not looking very lush due to the lack of rain and the high temperatures. Autumn is on it's way here in Texas.
UPDATE: we've had a steady rain this evening for about an hour....wonderful.

Have a great weekend.

I forgot to post the last one--The Tentmakers are something else! LOVE your dolly knits...Glad for the rain out your way...a great relief I bet. We expect some Sunday and Monday but it's cool and clear here tonight. Fall is peeking around corners now and then. I like Fall. Might get up to Massachusetts to wallow in it mid-September

Oh, what fun to be knitting small things, they're finished before you realise it! Look forward to seeing progress on the collar, it will be truly unique

hurray for your rain! It's pouring down here today....I love the doll clothes. I remember as a little girl friends of my mum and nanna would knit doll clothes for my dolls, I would get so excited!

What an interesting video. Their stitching so precise from years of stitching. Imagine sitting inside one of those tents with those works of art glowing from the sun. Thanks for sharing.
The lace collar is looking great.

A local lady here used to bring back, promote and sell much of the tentmakers work for them when she had a shop.
She put word out how talented they are, thrilled to see they have made the large scale stages now.
Love that collar idea! inspired that!

You will definitely have a one of a kind blouse and I'm sure there will be lots of envious comments when you wear it.

Your little doll jacket is adorable and that pink and white stripes look great together. Those Tent-maker's quilts are amazing. I could kicked myself for not bringing any back, but I love them. Will check out the video, thanks for sharing Deanna - Glad you got some rains - Hugs Nat
