lots of decisions to make...

but not much progress has been made. I did manage to make the last 6" corner block for my Fun Times cloth.

a combination of cutwork and a yo-yo embellished with hand stitching

I'm starting to make decisions about assembling the daily stitch project. I don't want to leave it all for the end. I think it's best to start putting it together as I go...or I'm afraid it will never happen.

it's growing in size quickly

I did a bit of lace work with the bits left from the cutwork done on the vintage cloth...

free motion embroidery on vintage silk net with bits of vintage embroidery

after doing some hand stitching....I once again cut it up to use it in some more cutwork.

fme lace in the background

and then there is the knitting. That was my focus this week. Lots of experimenting and making some more decisions. If you read my last post, you will recognize this yarn that turned out to be very chaotic for what i had planned...so I tried a granny square with a dark green border and some plain stockinette stitching ...but I'm not happy with it yet. Thanks to those of you who made some suggestions. I think I will try some weaving, this week, with sections of this yarn. It's that bright pink that really bothers me.

still too bright and chaotic for my taste

but, I did get the Noro yarn for that scarf with the leaf edging and I love the way the sample turned out, so now I can start on the scarf pattern.

you can now see the leaf created on the edge

and I am still knitting the Downton Abbey coat. The back is finished and one third of the left front. It's hard to be knitting so many different things at once....always having to choose one over the other. Eventually, it will all get finished.

It was Springlike here this week, leaning toward Summer with some days in the 80s (F), but another cold front is expected by the end of next week and that will probably be it for Winter, here in Austin.

Have a great week.

Here's a Ted video you might find interesting... using your limitations to create. Embrace the Shake

so much colour here this week. Noro is one of my favorite brands of knitting yarn. their colours and feel of the wool as you knit is so good in the hand. the scarfs exciting. i watched an episode of knitting daily this week where a knitter demo'd how to calculate with hand=dyed yarn to actually make it come out in "predictable" patterning but i think between the stacking and wrapping i'd more easily get a physics degree from MIT. those colours are bold - for sure. SS4 coming...and more. back to frigid weather here this week....burr.

I love Noro... I think I even bought that colorway once. The pink in the other yarn is very pink, can see why it bothers you.

Snowing here at the moment. Supposed to turn to rain mid day and then back to snow tonight and for tomorrow. I love it but am also glad that I've seen the first batch of crocus blooming.

the green yarn is stunning Deanna and I can see why the pink would bother you...could you stitch on it perhaps, some applique over the pink areas? Your stitch a day piece looks so big already and it's only February! How big is it? This one has the potential to be huge....

Love seeing the stitch a day project all laid out together. Too much pink for me too. Thanks for the video, that was a good one!

British Racing Green almost but maybe too dark against the bright pink? Id use the green for a knitted frog or crocodile! lol
Fabulous Noro shades and gosh you've cracked on with the blocks!
How will you join them?
Piece to piece or with strips tween them?

Your daily stitching project looks so amazing, good idea to start the planning as you go along. Your greenish wool for your leaf scarf looks so spring like....looking forward to seeing it develop.

Aha, now I can see where you are apporaching to with the daily stitch piece. Oh, the green edging leaf is beautiful. Well and the pink is really very strong with the other colour. Don't force anything.....suddenly an idea will come.

I agree about assembling as you go along. It might be rather daunting if you came to it last!

Where do I begin...this is a post full of exciting things. I think with the Noro yarn...I have never knitted with it but have long been an admirer of how it feels. Seeing it here with your knitted sample, it looks beautiful! The other yarn is a bit garish in comparison. Maybe if you held the bright yarn with a strand of cream wool, knit it and then felt it, the bright colors would just add a touch of accent.
On to the embroidery, Wow you stitch bits are growing into a large body of work, very interesting. The use of your leftover bits to create lace, really adds a lot of texture and would leave me thinking, "How did she do that!"
We had a touch of Spring here as well and it was nice!

Thank you for sharing the TED talk, very helpful at this point in my life. Have you thought about dyeing the yarn so the color pink is not so harsh?

I love the way all your stitched pieces are coming together and agree it's a good plan to piece them as you go along. Your knitted leaf is lovely, the pink wool is less lovely! You are very busy!
