spinning in many directions...

you might remember the wool i was unraveling back here in February. well, i've finally started spinning it. my goal is to spin one ball every night so that i can ply it and actually make something with it. it felt good to be spinning again.
click on the images for a close-up view.

have no idea how much i'll wind up with after plying
still working with white over at Judes What If Workshop so i played a bit with a white cotton rag that Home Depot sells in small bundles. loved making the eyelets. i now want to make eyelets in every piece of fabric i pick up. after manipulation, the cloth wound up to be a diamond shape and just hangs on my design wall.

stitched false seams on front and back with lace and cording

love the cording extensions

and still doing embroidery with lace in continuation of my Alchemy Journal. this piece will be a header for a page with old memories. i had lots of trouble photographing this as it is see through and the layers of ribbon have a metallic quality.

cross stitch, free motion embroidery, hand embroidery

this piece measures 8½" x 3½"

the weather is getting warmer each day so summer is on its way. we never have much of a spring but we do have mild winters. i have to get out there and do some planting but i can't seem to pull myself away from all my indoor projects. wishing you all a productive week.

I was wondering the other day how your wool un-tangling was going. I now must go to Home Depot and buy rags! LOL! Your cloth hanging there is beautifully light and airy. Your page for class is gorgeous. I wish the comment page could emphasis words! Gorgeous doesn't even come close. Wow! I tend not to be a ruffles kind of person, but this page just sings with them. Have a wonderful day, Deanna!

the cross stitch piece is beautiful...i can see why it was hard on your eyes but it was worth the time and effort you put into - just incredible. i have yet to find something to do with my "home depot" cloth...but i like the feel of it and i have to wash it to see what becomes of it after the wash. my dad use to keep these around for project - mostly to do with his car so they have a little memory to them already...the eyelets sing. cheers.

I cannot believe you got that all untangled! beautiful memory patch. I'll confess that I loved the hailstorm that came yesterday, meaning I had to stay inside & stitch-ha!

Your Home Depot fabric piece reminds me, for some reason, of a liberty bodice! What a clever idea to source your fabric from the bargain store and its certainly looking super already.

I set myself time limits so that I do both garden and indoor projects (sometimes outside). I find that works better for me, don't get as sore from overdoing in the garden. Once I get out there I lose all sense of time....

It's amazing how cloth so thin can bee infused with so much! Beautiful work Deanna.

Deanna, I always know I'll see something exquisite when I visit here. The stitching is beautiful, what a journal that's going to be!
The spinning is going to be so satisfying to get done and then what will you make with it? I think I've caught a bug, a yarn bug. xx
