finally got back here...

i've been busy these past 2 weeks but didn't have much to show you. we are playing with 'white' over at Jude's What If forum so i did some experimenting. click on images for a better view.

with a prism...

playing with the light coming through the kitchen window

love the curved rainbow up above

turned a dyed piece into black and white and printed it on cotton cloth...

cut out the center and added some white lace. planned on stitching on this but the cotton was too tough for the needle so i gave up on that.

here is the actual dyed piece that will become the top part of a hassock/stool i am covering.

not too much stitching ...maybe just a little bit more needed around the center circle.

and there has been some knitting happening as well.

a pinwheel purse with some sewing equipment within to carry for emergencies. i made 8 of these for my quilting friends.
the pinwheel purse opens up origami style and the pattern is here on Ravelry, if you want to try it.

and i also started knitting a purse that will be felted when finished...

this yarn is a wonderfully soft wool

i was thinking this week how lucky i am to be doing exactly what i love doing every day. it took some planning through the years to get here but it was so well worth some of the struggles. wishing the same for all of you.

Your hassock is going to be wonderful! I can see me leaning forward and looking at the stitching instead of putting my feet up.:) The knitted sewing purse is fantastic! My parents used to have leather ones like that to take their coins to the casino. I'd much rather stitch than gamble. LOL! Have a wonderful weekend!

yes I feel lucky too that I spend all day doing what I love. You have some really interesting stuff going on here...your prism images are brilliant and the pin wheel purse is delightful. I also love the colour of the wool on your kitting needles...

What a nice visit I've just had with you, Deanna... That hassock art cover is so cool. And the little knitted purses are on my favorites list over at Ravelry, too! They are too cute, aren't they? -- oh, now I'm going to have to stop my sweater to make one. ;) Have a great weekend doing what you love. xx

Well I'm slightly stupefied by the range and I do love those little pinwheel purses a whole lot!! The new knitting is pretty...I'm happy for you the way you are now able to do what you love. i mostly do too...except for maintenance (cleaning laundry etc) which seems to get harder by the day..but a small price to pay for the privilege of just going :-)

You are indeed lucky! I started singing (in my head of course) the Time Warp song. I love the way/amount of stitching you've done on that. And the pinwheel purse is grand!!!
Such fun stuff over here :)

I am as lucky as you, now I can do what I want and chose what I will do next. It takes a lot of discipline though, it could be easy to get idle and lazy, then unsatisfied and unhappy.
Love your work,so many different things.

those little pinwheel purses remind me of those little leather coin purse that were/carried by, i think, mostly elderly gentlemen...they look a little like those jiffy pop popcorn containers and they fold into themselves. you probably know which ones i'm referring to - but this version is so sweet. just the right size. yes, i heard a saying, that went something like, if you enjoy what you do, you can't call it work. cheers from the spam folder resident.

your time warp portal stitching is so very cool. I'd love to see more of it.
& thank you for the link to the knitting pattern! my dad had a leather version of this as a coin purse, that i just loved to play with- a nice memory.

That's a wonderful wish! I love where I work and what I do (most days!) but I wish I could do it a little less and have more time for the projects at home. Working that way.... I started a new project the other day and thought of you. :)

White would be your comfort after your workshop with Karen. I love your photos of light through the kitchen window, magical! I'm home and just starting blogs visiting again - Hugs Nat

like the idea of a time portal - a circle as a door. can't wait to see the hassock at the end of your efforts!

I also love those pinwheel purses. What a great idea.

Just started a bit of cutwork yesterday.... after watching Karen's video twice and then I watched and kept rewinding it as I worked along with her...know it will be easier ..but, man ...to get it going the first time....sheeeesh..... I didn't have enough thread either .. it's a big one...I needed to add another foot or so to my thread..hahahh..... so I had to stitch through some threads and cut it off...hope I can start another thread with no trouble ... but, I am baking muffins now and then treadmill and then... finally some stitches...
