Revise and Renew...

a white eyelet jacket has been hanging in my closet for a few years. i got it at a thrift store and it was just too white. i wrapped it around a tin can with some leaves and dropped it in the dye pot. the color is much better now. a couple of pockets and a bit more stitching and it will be wearable.

Click on the pics for a close-up view.

still working on fabric coiled baskets...this time with covers. pics on the next post.

have a great week.

glad i did a quick check before heading off to mom's for the night. it's great to see the pockets coming onto the jacket. why oh why can't women have pockets i ask you? i played a little with some walnuts this week too but i kept the pieces in the bath too long and my moons look more like the dark side of the moon. gonna get some better clamps and try again. some of the leaves are really nicely defined. the first picture i actually had a closer look because i thought it was a pillow...the fabric is so lovely...rich. will you embellish more. really fine...

I agree, those white eyelet fabric is too white. I'm glad you got some color into it. I always thought it's not 100% cotton. Love the pockets you made, very creative. You will enjoy wearing it - Hugs Nat

I'm enjoying the pix of how you changed and are changing that white eyelet jacket. I always love seeing your complex and beautiful projects, Deanna.

It's wonderful, was the eyelet cotton or a blend? -- and did you mordant in soy milk? You have a great new jacket with very cool pockets!

A wonderful transition! I'm still debating whether to dye the white sweater I'm making.

That's lovely! And the coppery orange on the pockets really sets it off.

I find highly enjoyable to transform an industrial piece of clothing in something unique and very special, I can see that you enjoy doing the same! And the result is fabulous.
I loved your watercolor books too.
