trying to do it all...

i have not posted here in a while. i've been busy stitching, spinning, knitting, crocheting and trying out some new things. it actually feels good working on so many things at once that i know will get finished. my mood dictates what i pick up to work on. i have to force myself to stop and clean house and straighten up lately because i'm so involved.  and here are some visuals...click on the images for close-up views.

some of my silk hand dyed pieces are finally being stitched into a small throw. it measures 40" x 40". more on this piece as i start to stitch.
another thrift store blouse that was too small got the side strip treatment that i talked about in my last post and is now wearable.
stitching scraps together, one day, wound up as a pocket on a fun shirt i wear around the house on chilly days.
punching holes in cloth and stitching eyelets (as a result of Jude's post in the diaries class). in the background is silk and cotton flannel dyed with RIT dye.
THAT LED TO THIS:

a little pouch 6" x 6" with a needle book stitched to the outside. eyelets stitched on the zipper as well with a crocheted edge. this will be great for carrying scraps to stitch when on the go with pins and needles very handy.
inside of needle book.
i was happy to hear that some of you benefited from watching the video i posted last time. sometimes we can help ourselves by just changing our way of thinking. the full version is no longer available but half of it is available here. this was originally posted by Jude on facebook.

I have not been much around here lately, too. Neither have I been as creative as you... Well done!

Your silk throw is gorgeous! It must be a dream to sew on and fun to see each part up close. Your pockets are so much fun! I am busy sorting and organizing so not a lot of creating going on. The snow will fly soon enough and I'll have hours to sit and stitch. Have fun!

so many things here...and a new background? but the small shirt - if you hadn't said anything i would never have guessed - it looks perfect. the eyelets are almost like a little rainbow and that rit dyed background cloth in the photo has so much drama - it is a lovely photo just as is. and speaking of needle book - beautiful. it really came out great and the little scissors - such a sweet touch. i was reading on a blog - grrl+dog:
http://dneese.blogspot.com/2012/08/busy-box-travelling-light.html about putting together what she calls a busy box...the post is a good good read and the comments are interesting too. it's about the things we "have" to have with us when we get away from our usual working space and the tools we keep with us...so when you mentioned this as a great take along i right away though, ah, deanna's busy box. lovely post. thanks.

I thought I missed your post about the eco cloth when I saw it on FB. It looks great, it's nice to show off the whole pieces of eco cloth. I'm in a planning of piecing one too. I have a woolen fabric from the thrift shop that I will use as a backing. I like the strip treatment idea. We can do that with anything really...

Deanna you always amaze me at how many different things you create using different materials. Your needle case is very clever having a pouch with a zipper for extra supplies

What a great idea for altering the blouse to fit perfectly.
You must really be enjoying your creative time...
House work will always be there, I say "stitch on!"

that pocket is adorable! you have been busy (and yes cleaning the house does come last) it's just great that you have so many projects 'on the go' and can work on what you feel like doing best, usually results in getting things finished too.
good to see you in the shirt, and if you hadn't mentioned anything who would have known it has been modified; and the silk throw: beautiful autumn shades!

Lots of good things going on here! I love the side strip method for your shirt.

I too like the luxurious idea of the silk throw, what a good way of using dyed silk samples.
I am curious about the RIT dye, I bought a box when I was last in LA but haven't used it yet. The effect you obtained is very interesting, I think that the time has arrived for me to take out that box.

love those dyed silks and excited to see how that progresses, and the little travel pouch is genius. i too find it fun to have multiple pieces in progress, getting to move back and forth between them as the mood strikes keeps a synergy among them.

You've so busy, it all looks fabulous especially that patch pocket - my favourite here. It feels good to get very busy and not want to stop, i'm a bit like that lately.

Deanna! Every single thing is beautiful. I love both your blouse treatments, the around the house one looks very fun with that pocket and the trim on the bottom edge. The throw is lovely plus useful, what is the backing? And the pouch is awesome. Makes me sad I'm not in MD this time, this idea is fascinating. You must be the whirling dervish of cloth. xx
