you never know...

who or what will send you love...
a double heart

the garden is doing well what with all the wonderful rain we have had in the past couple of weeks.

the cucumber plant is kind of taking over everything else

lots of little cucs...can't wait to eat the first one

and the Chikan Embroidery is finished and blocked. it's hard to photograph white. click on the images for a closer view.

love the texture and the shadow effect
Anita of Artistic Fingers did a great job of teaching the individual stitches. if you click on Chikan Embroidery on her side bar, all the lessons are there.

off to do some stitching before the day gets away from me.

Did you carve that wonderful orange? Your cucumber plant might profit from a vertical trellis, that is to say the rest of the patch might profit by the additional exposure, and aren't the tiny flowers pretty, like the potato flower. your embroidery is a little miracle. I have sometimes had success photographing this sort of thing with the light behind it, and not using the flash. Such a nice post.

i'm avoiding the vertical trellis because it will create shade for the plants in front of the cucumbers. i should have planted them at the head of garden...there's always next year.
i did photograph the white embroidery with the light behind and without flash. i very rarely use flash. i probably should have taken it outside but i was lazy.
and the orange...no, not carved. i took a cut into the top of the orange yesterday and there was the heart and i then noticed that even the initial cut was a heart.

the embroidery is so pretty! wow you made that; I envy your warm weather, over here it is still too cold (we will have night frost tonight!) and we have had a lot of rain which will be good once the sun adds warmth to the earth, I plan on sowing this weekend.

Your garden looks so lush, the rain was a good thing really. Cute orange!! I am blown away by your embroidery, so delicate, the stitches look like pearls. I haven't really caught up with many blogs since I've been back but I'm so glad I saw this post.

Your garden is so bountiful! Ours is just getting started. It was so cold, and now so very hot. Like Goldilocks and the porridge! The orange is wonderful! And you chikan is so very beautiful. I have bookmarked the linked for a day of stitching. Thanks!

ditto to the wow. the embroidery is just so delicate and beautiful. how will incorporate the piece or is it just a "sampler?" i have visions of you creating a delicate summer garment out of it. our weather is still to unpredictable for cukes. i usually have some that grow close to one of my spruce trees and they will work themselves into the tree and it looks like a green christmas - icicles dangling. i use cage for lots of things so that is a good solution. did you know that the more you pick the cukes the more will be produced? i read that somewhere - yum yum.

Your garden! It looks so good, I can almost taste those cukes. Sweetheart orange. And your stitching is beautiful, that couldn't have been easy to stitch white on white either but it was *worth* it -- like Jeannie, I'm saving the link.
