i do carry my crochet around with me for those few spare moments of time. some little sewing pouches might be edged with these crocheted pieces...and there is a plan for all that bamboo yarn...there's also a shade of pink in the mix and a taupe. click on the images for a closer view.
i had 2 small pieces of silk that i stitched together to make a scarf. the raw edges got a simple single crocheted edge. the main color is actually a deep burgundy with a beautiful sheen that i couldn't capture with the camera.

a deep burgundy (not brown as it appears here) ikat silk scarf |
and still working on some bobbin lace. the original plan didn't work out so i just worked up a grid that is being embellished with beads and might also get a weaving in the center...maybe the front of a small purple velvet purse...not sure yet.

I'm sure this will look great! The crochet lace reminds me of the scarves I saw in Turkey where each girl made a pile of them and kept it in a little glass case with the lace nicely displayed, to show off with her skills.
you're so busy! Love the crochet....
Your work is always so delicate.
I love your bobbin lace grid Deanna & thought of you this morning whist visiting Midori Snyder's Pinterest Board in particular the piece of irish crochet lace from the Met-

Your needlework skill is exquisite Deanna. I love the crochet edging. Lovely in both colors - have a great weekend - hugs Nat
THE IKAT SCARF IS A STUNNER--I KNOW THE COLOR YOU DESCRIBE.
The grid could be the basis for a huge range of infilling stitches - you will have such fun with it!
i'm sorry i didn't see this until late last night on my phone...i love it all...the crochet so reminds me of how my mother loved to do the same thing - whenever a spare moment would present itself there she'd be. the "shell" pattern is very useful for some of your project...and the colored one is attractive in a joyful way. i hear indian music tingling in the background when i look at the scarf - it's beautiful...and the grid - what a wonderful base for so many possibilities...cheers as always. (oh and green is my favorite color so of course it's especially attractive)
Deanna,The crochet lace looks so beautiful! I love Ikat, have many dresses too...I've never used bamboo yarn, could you please tell me where is it available?
Your crochet work is beautiful. I really like the color-filled one! And the silk too is so cool!
Your scarf is beautiful. I love ikat. Crochet is the biggest stress reliever for me. Just the repetitive movement following the pattern. I have yet to try the bamboo. I did dye some last summer and used it as an embroidery thread. It needs to be waxed, but has a wonderful soft texture. Your lace is exquisite. So very beautiful. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Deanna, this is all so lovely BUT the crocheted variegated piece with the bead on the tip of each curved edge is gorgeous. You are amazing, I tell ya. Do you have patterns memorized and do you refer to one or do you make it up? It's beyond me how fine crochet work is done, and it seems like it's too late to even learn it now. Like you need to learn it when you're young to really "get" it??
I love to crochet too Deanna (but only one pattern for a scarf!!!!). I have one on the go at my chair at the moment, so any chance I get to sit down I crochet another motif or two.
That ikat is beautiful...very precious and I love your boro'd clothing in the earlier post. I'm in catch up mode with so many projects!!!

What a beautiful crocheted edging - love the colours! And your bobbin lace is so delicate and uniform.
What gorgeous crocheted edging! I'd love to see a close up of the edging you used on the scarf.
The ikat scarf is really something and I like what you're doing with the bobbin lace grid. It looks so neat!
All so lovely... A grid is full of wonderful potential. :)
thanks to all of you i couldn't reach by individual e-mail.
underatopazsky...the scarf edging is just 2 rows of single crochet. since the whole edge didn't need finishing, i just did something simple. part of the edge is just fringe from the fabric itself.
What a good idea to carry a crochet, sometimes my embroidery is unpractical and the knitting too bulky. As you say, there can always be a use for a crocheted edge.
Great colors for the crochet. I can imagine the deep burgundy you describe in the ikat--lovely!
oh my the crocheted rainbow is so beautiful!~! and I, like so many others, love the ikat, too. where did you learn to make bobbin lace?!!
thanks, Dee. i go to a lace class every tuesday morning. it's sponsored by Lifetime Learning for seniors but this teacher runs the class all year. i've been attending going on 3 years. just got home from class, in fact.
Che belli i tuoi lavori, sono molto fantasiosi e pieni di vita. Baci
Emi
