Points and...

I've been experimenting with points and flaps and a pattern designed in a dream. These are all works in progress.

cut a circle into 4 flaps.opens to an ikat like embroidered star

playing with circles in squares
this pattern was created in a dream
played a bit with the pattern. background is a needle felted piece from long ago.
an experiment that failed turned into a kind of basket

I've been spending a bit more time in the yard this year than usual. You might remember the fig tree crash of a few weeks ago. I found a small root at the base with some leaves and cut it off and put it in a small pot. Initially all the leaves dyed so I clipped them off and cut the whole thing down closer to the root. Just a few weeks and brand new leaves have sprouted. Now to decide where to plant this tree.

glory be, deanna!
A tree, a new tree, a new fig tree!
Certainly something glorious to celebrate.
You golden four flaps looks as though it has
an "open and close" mind of it's own. I think I
saw movement.
perhaps a safe place of a star to rest...?
everything is lovely!
have a restful weekend.

I especially like the piece in the second picture Deanna. It looks as if it has some great textures in it.

Your textures would make a great quilt for a blind person... they can't enjoy the colors, but they will have the tactile sence to use.

Love the little fig, too!

Hugs.

i've been thinking about your golden bursting star, but haven't had time to comment, still don't, but i'm thinking about it & loving especially the star stitches in the center.

I came over to see more from a post at the SEW forum. Such wonderful work and very cool about the rescued fig. Not enough energy or focus to do my own creative stuff yet but it sure is inspiring to see what you've been up to here. (this is Acey they wouldn't let me post except anonymously)

Deanna, the second cloth up there is magic, pure magic. And the pattern you remembered from the dream world is fabulous beyond words. I love it when we can bring something back -- such a gift.
I wonder if that pattern is an age-old symbol from Egyptian times or another culture/era and what it means. . . wonderful!
