some bobbin lace and an inspiring video

These 3 pieces are each slightly different. I'm finding that repetition is helping me with bobbin lace technique. I will do one more that is similar and then go on to another design. Hope to use these as embellishment on some small cloth bags. Click on the photo for a closer view.

each fan is slightly different. done with a fine linen thread
Kate and William were married on the restored 'Cosmati Pavement' in Westminster Abbey. So many fabulous ideas here for stitch designs for the sun, moon and stars class now available through Jude's Cloth Whispering Series. There's also a bit of history in the video. Hope you enjoy it. I just ordered a book from the library where I'm hoping to see some more detail of the designs.

I can see the difference between the 1st & 2nd but not between the 2nd & 3rd. What am I missing?? I started an edging last night, same as the last one I made, but in a much smaller thread. You can actually see the pattern!

I was at Westminster last month. On our tour the guide talked about how and where wedding events would be--if Kate and will followed tradition (they did). We got to watch the restorers working on the floor. It is amazing. Thanks for the video link.

The bobbin laces are gorgeous. I do appreciate them more knowing that each knot is carefully create by hand. Thanks for the video too. I watched it over at SEW. I have been to Westminster Abbey to visit the bell tower above, but didn't see the Cosmati Pavement - Hugs Nat

Hi Deanna - thanks for the fantastic Cosmati Pavement link. Have you started on anything for Sunstars etc? I haven't yet- I am still working an a coiling project but am thinking about suns and moons and stars. I think it is going to be stars for me initially. Gilly

Deanna, they are just lovely -- I can see the difference between those bottom two when I click on the picture -- all those threads on the sides are really pretty intimating!!! They will be a nice embellishment, not many items have handmade lace!
