playing with photoshop....

not much stitching or knitting the past couple of days due to bursitis in my shoulder. feels much better today so maybe i'm back on track.
i stitched these two pieces a few days ago, trying to replicate a vintage sleeve effect with cording and ruching. not for any particular reason. just because i liked the effect. the image of the vintage sleeve is in the upper left hand corner of the first image. i was pleased with the way it turned out. have no idea what i'll do with these samples but i did use them to play a bit in Photoshop Elements. might use those images for some collage work.

click on the images for close-ups.

silk cloth with a thick cording

manipulated in PE

manipulated in PE...kind of looks like a skeleton

i did get some knitting done on my coat before my shoulder started acting up. it's slow going...

been knitting in front of the tv at night

and some play in PE

i was going through some bits and pieces of old work and pulled out a few small pieces to play with. some ideas are brewing...

bits and pieces...the ribbon with the British flag was a gift and i love it

hope all of you in the US survived Black Friday. i didn't go anywhere near the stores. it was a cold week but it's warming up in the afternoons so the weather has been pleasant. stay warm and cozy wherever you are.
see you next time.

Oh, Deanna, I wish you the best for this bursitis (had to look it up). Do you think it is because of knitting? Hopefully not - I like your rings on the needles.

gosh that's painful hope you manage to keep it at bay!
love the effects youve achieved with the stitching there, lovely fabric manipulation that.
Asda advertised on tv that Black Friday was going to happen here - apparently there were queues round corners they were so long at our nearby store!
Like you - I stayed well away lol

Ouch take care of that shoulder Deanna, don't over-do it with the knitting !!!

These old sewing techniques were pretty complicated sometimes !!!!
(and all done by hand too !)

Awww.... I hope your shoulder gets back to feeling better soon.... do you know anybody who does therapeutic massage? It could probably be a big help... other than that ... as long as it isn't arthritic...use cold packs...and do some gentle stretches to begin and then...give 'er later in the week..... do some really firm stretches after a gentle start on them....

I do love that ruching you did, and I like it better than the piece that inspired you - well done!
I hope your shoulder continues to do better Deanna, and that you are back playing and creating with all your lovelies soon.

I really like your photos, Deanna. The knitted coat is going to be fabulous. I love that you're showing your progress, it'll be fun to see it come to life. I had to go to Barnes & Noble to pick up a birthday gift for someone and do you know I forgot to look for the Downton Abbey knitting magazine. Now I'll have to go back! ;)

Aches and pains in your shoulder, that no good. Take care of it. I love the images you manipulated in PE. I used to used it, but since I'm using iPhone to take photos and editing I don't use anymore - Hugs Nat

beware, photoshop is addictive.
spain seems to be importing the bad stuff such as black friday. they seem incapable of doing the good stuff.
