I almost forgot....

I am so excited about trying a new embroidery technique on the machine that I almost forgot about my Saturday blog post....but here I am, even though the day is almost over.

I did finish the needle book case with the bobbin lace embellishment.

I used the same thread to crochet the edge as in the bobbin lace leaves.

a close up of the leaves as requested by a couple of you.

I've started working on my Fun Times cloth again...just some simple stitching to embellish another piece to be added to the completed center.

embellished blanket stitch, french knots and x-stitch

Still crocheting these little flowers that will dangle along the edge of the habotai silk cloth finished weeks ago. I don't really like crocheting with such a fine crochet hook so i do at least two each night...just a few more to go.

crochet flowers to dangle along the edges

I have been carrying this very old project to quilt bee each week hoping to finally finish it sometime soon. I can't even remember how many years ago I started it. I was really into making the cathedral windows pattern. I used a fabric with a trees pattern and interspersed those squares with family pictures....so it's kind of a memory piece...just a small wall hanging.

that's a wedding picture of my mom & dad and a picture of me.

Click on the images for close-ups.

It was winter this week for about 2 days when we had temperatures just at the freezing point, but we're back to Spring and Summer weather this weekend. I do like the variety.
Have a great week and I hope you'll come back again next time.

Deanna...those tiny flowers??? they're fabulous and must be so tricky. I'm not surprised you only do a couple a night. I've got eye strain just thinking about it....your needle case is beautiful too, I especially love the edge. It seems to me that your eyes have been well worked this week!

The needle book case is so very fine. And I like how you have continued towards finishing the memory pics/trees piece. Show us when you're done :)

Your needlecase turned out so beautifully. I love the crochet edge. It really compliments the leaves and the bitty leaves are adorable. I love to crochet, but the little flowers are teeny!!! I love your wall hanging. Cathedral window is one of those patterns I love, but know I will never complete. A few years ago, a high school classmate of my Mom's asked if I would like some old quilts. Of course! Well, long story short, it was discovered that the quilts were made by my Great Aunt who had lived across the street from Barb. She also gave me a partially completed quilt. Yep, 18 yards of muslin, plus about 1/3 of a twin size quilt in a Cathedral Window pattern. Started, but never finished. LOL! I am going to finish up what Aunt Florence started for her Grand daughters as table runners.

Hello Deanna, that is super, the needlecase - I love the green colour and the tiny crocheted flowers are admirable.

I think it's rather good to know that you were so engrossed in what you were doing that you forgot to blog about it. Shows you have the right priority, preferring doing over writing about it!

Love your little needle book. I've never learned bobbin lace. That and spinning are two places where I've drawn the line!
I like your self discipline in crocheting the small flowers each night. Sometimes we just have to do that, don't we, in order to live with ourselves!
And your Cathedral Windows quilt will be so nice when it's finished - a real treasure.
I love seeing your work each week!

Beautiful post Deanna. I love the bobbin lace. It gives the same patterns and textures as tabby weave I do on the loom. The memory quilt with cathedral windows is darling. I used to love making cathedral windows too. You reminded of my project - Enjoy your warmer weather - Hugs Nat

You've had a productive week, Deanna. The needle case is lovely, love the tatted leaves and the bee button. And the cathedral windows are just lovely, each one with a scenic view -- I really like that effect. I've never made a cathedral window, may have to try now though. ;) We go back and forth temperature-wise here, too. It's a weird autumn in that way.

Love your cathedral window quilt, the idea of using tree fabric and then including family photos is great.
