it's a sock...

it's been a struggle and i ripped out the heel 3 times until i got it right but i've learned so much from this 'toe-up class' on craftsy.com. this is my first sock ever and this is not exactly a beginner's class but i think i'm going to make it work.
who would have thought that this...

the gauge swatch and the beginning of the toe

would actually start looking like a sock...

just a few more inches to go
and then, of course, i have to knit the second sock but that will be easy now.

i've also added several borders to the busy looking piece i started in Karen's Ledger Class.

not sure how big it will get and then there will be embroidery embellishments
i need to move along quickly because my to do list is growing daily.

I love to knit Toe-Up socks, but heels are another story. I've been knitting socks for about 4 years now, and I still have problems turning those darned heels. Sorry for the lack of encouragement here, but perhaps you will have better luck!
I love your yarn!
Good luck!

Oh hooray! Second socks are a lot easier if you don't worry about anything matching. :)

Deanna, oh how satisfying it must be to actually knit a sock -- yay! That's something I want to learn, too. The ledger cloth is awesome. You are very busy. xo

lovely sock, deanna! i taught myself to knit many, many years ago by knitting a pair of socks. so many people think they are the most difficult thing to knit, but i say if you can knit a sock, you can knit anything! actually, they have all the same elements as a baby set, so they really aren't as difficult as people think... however, as a first project, they are challenging! keep up the excellent work!

I have knitted nothing but scarfs in my life. I admire the discipline and knowledge needed to make socks or other garments.

XOXO
