it's been a struggle and i ripped out the heel 3 times until i got it right but i've learned so much from this 'toe-up class' on craftsy.com. this is my first sock ever and this is not exactly a beginner's class but i think i'm going to make it work.
who would have thought that this...
|
the gauge swatch and the beginning of the toe |
|
would actually start looking like a sock...
|
just a few more inches to go |
and then, of course, i have to knit the second sock but that will be easy now.
i've also added several borders to the busy looking piece i started in
Karen's Ledger Class.
|
not sure how big it will get and then there will be embroidery embellishments |
i need to move along quickly because my to do list is growing daily.

I love your sock!! You are so clever!!!!!
I'm sure the second sock will be easy!
Determination masters the sock form! And I love the new cloth.
Ive always given up after the one sock lol but I think you have far more self discipline than me lol
Thats a great page.......!
Great job on that sock : )
I know how that "to do " list grows...like rabbits multiplying! lol!
Lovely gathering of stitched fabrics too!

Wow Deanna! Congrats on the sock! I had one sorry sock waiting for it mate, but I cannot remember how to knit it - Love the piece from Karen Ruane's workshop. What fun...
I love to knit Toe-Up socks, but heels are another story. I've been knitting socks for about 4 years now, and I still have problems turning those darned heels. Sorry for the lack of encouragement here, but perhaps you will have better luck!
I love your yarn!
Good luck!
xo
A perfect heel! Congratulations! :-)
Reading your title I hear the old children's chant in my head...this is a sock. A What? A SOCK! OHhhh, a sock!
And what a fine sock it is :) And I love your 'page' Are those clothing 'tags' on it? It looks great :)
Oh hooray! Second socks are a lot easier if you don't worry about anything matching. :)
Deanna, oh how satisfying it must be to actually knit a sock -- yay! That's something I want to learn, too. The ledger cloth is awesome. You are very busy. xo
hooray! you're a sock knitter! i knew you could do it.
lovely sock, deanna! i taught myself to knit many, many years ago by knitting a pair of socks. so many people think they are the most difficult thing to knit, but i say if you can knit a sock, you can knit anything! actually, they have all the same elements as a baby set, so they really aren't as difficult as people think... however, as a first project, they are challenging! keep up the excellent work!
I have knitted nothing but scarfs in my life. I admire the discipline and knowledge needed to make socks or other garments.
XOXO
Lovely sock,am sure the second one will be easy Deanna.I had bought a socks book with many beautiful patterns long time back, yet to try one.Your ledger class piece is lovey, thanks for sharing it.As you said to do list is growing everyday....
