the re-designed dress is nearing completion. i've used a part of a vintage linen cloth as a label and embroidered 'then & now 2012'. i still need to add a couple of inches to the length which may include some embellishment. i'll try to get a picture of me in the dress when it is actually completed.

a vintage label with 'then & now 2012' added |
and here are some close-ups of the band just below the waist made up of bits and pieces of vintage linens and lace and added hand embroidery:
and the entire front and back...
i need to start thinking about which re-design i want to tackle next.

More plans? I'm impressed - if they turn out as well as this one you'll be a Very Well Dressed Person indeed!
OK!!!!!!!!! it's GREAT and i am
watching to see how you work the
addition at the bottom...
wow, deanna, you are just on fire! I really like the waist band - esp. how the applique blue flowers relate to the dress stripe/color! I see Ruane web stitches in there, too - placed with nice effect. Too me, it looks like a very fancy uniform. Is that insulting?! I hope not.
Very beautifully done! What a challenge that one was.
what a clever idea Deanna, love the lable idea too!
wonderful Deanna and the label is so very special.
i'd be tempted to wear the dress inside out to show off that beautiful label!
Wow!Beautiful! I'm impressed.I love the drawn thread part in the label.More plans(?)love to see what you are going to come up with next.
Another masterpiece. Looking forward to the fashion show :-)
What a fun dress Deanna. Looking forward to see you in it - enjoy
It's just beautiful, Deanna...I particularly love the blue appliqué flowers on the waistband...
yes it looks grand full length. and i can see karen's hand in the stitching as well. so delicate.
Oh Deanna! It's beautiful! I love how the buttons meld from white on the striped fabric into colorful-flowerful delight on the new band! It is so perfect! Your work is always so wonderfully precise :) I too love the label and say "Who says labels need to be put on the Inside?!!!" Can't wait to see it on you!
PS Love to see all of your books there!!!
Beautiful work deanna and i look forward to seeing you wearing your creation.
