I've been busy...

I've spent an endless amount of time going through old projects and fabric...sorting...organizing. I have lots of bundles to give away to different people, scraps to go to a quilt store that uses it for stuffing, and a package to Wendy for the children. I've done some more experimenting with the dye pot, stitched on my leaf book, found more bits to add to my magic cloth and added some lace to my lace guild shirt that I started back here. Here are some pics. Click for a closer view.

part of a silk jacket folded in thirds with leaves and wrapped around a tin can

this is the back of the piece above

do you see the almost perfect A...twice

more of the silk jacket wrapped around the can with string and pushed down shibori style

some hand dyed cloth enhanced with stencils and shiva paintstiks

started stitching on glycerin treated leaves for my leaf book

hand dyed doily added to my lace guild shirt

more lace embellishment for the lace guild shirt

There were lots more things on my list for this past week but never got to them. I wanted to start learning tambour beading but haven't gotten there yet. I did see a wonderful movie called 'SEQUINS'.  It's a french film with lots of glimpses of beautiful tambor beading by a master beader who does work for Lacroix.

I hope you all had some time for yourselves this past week.

Everything you do leaves its mark elsewhere...

Oh wow love the leaf pages! I was thinking you were actually writing on the leaves as the pages themselves. These are smashing Deanna! Great idea!

I love those glycerine leaf pages - absolutely beautiful. Admire your lace jacket too and you've done such a nice job. I really like your silk shibori - may I float invisibly around you for a week? Kidding of course, but you are such an inspiration. Thanks, Sally jo
P.S. are your leaves oily at all?

You have been quite busy. The dye pot results are beautiful and the leaf pages are wonderful! I am always inspired when I visit. Thank you!

sally jo--the leaves are soft and flexible...not at all oily. mix 1/3 glycerin to 2/3 water in a flat pan. put in leaves and cover with some styrofoam and put something on that to weight it down. leave it for 2-5 days.

deanna, your silk jacket is beautiful. The glycerine leaves and the naturally dyed fabric are a perfect match - meant for each other.

This post is another feast for the eyes, Deanna. WOW is right! The dye photos are so beautiful and the letter A is most definitely there twice. The leaf book is about the most wonderful thing ever. You must be going from morning till night! Loved it all, everything.

Deanna, I am in awe of these lovely surfaces especially the top image...just beautiful. I haven't seen that film but we have a huge amount of movie channels and I am going to keep an eye out for it. Thanks so much for the recommendation.

Wow you have been very busy and so creative, the leaves and the lace or wonderful and I adore that shibori silk, all very inspiring. Tomorrow I am going to sort out my sewing room (it became a bit of a dumping ground over Christmas) and get going again. Happy New year.

wow! what an impressive catalog of work! I especially love the silk jacket and would love to see it in its entirety.

thanks, dee. that jacket is no longer in one piece. it was a thrift store find that was taken apart for the silk. that shibori style dyed piece is another piece of it.
