Grandma's threads and crochet work

The title is not about me but about threads left to me by my grandmother. I tried using some of the red thread last week for tatting. It appeared to be strong enough but when I went to close the ring, it broke in two. Another bit of tatting to add to my 'bits and pieces collection'. I have used some of the other threads for embroidery. I love to look at the old labels and wooden spools and I can picture my grandmother sitting and doing her crochet or knitting.
